Interested in NVQ qualifications in Horse Care and Management?

Look no further than The Black Cat Equestrian Centre for a learning environment that is both educational and fun! With fully supported courses by Lincoln College you can be sure that the education and qualifications you receive will stand you in good stead for a career with horses.

Funding the Equestrian Training

The government is funding these qualifications to ensure quality procedures and standards accompany and support the growing leisure industry. This support makes it easier for those wishing to gain qualifications to do so ensuring a more highly trained and employable workforce.

There are few jobs for the unqualified so whether you are a school leaver or up to 90 years of age we will train you! If you have the ambition and dedication we have the training.

Courses available

NVQ Level 1

  • Assistant Yard Worker.
  • A stepping stone to further qualifications.

NVQ Level 2

  • An Assistant Worker. Groom.
  • Stable Lad etc., able to take responsibility for their work.

NVQ Level 3

  • Head, Senior Groom, Stable Lad.
  • Able to assume responsibility and supervise staff at levels 1 and 2.

BHS Stages 1, 2 & 3

City & Guilds National Certificate in Horsecare Level 1

City & Guilds National Certificate in Horsecare Level 2

City & Guilds Advanced National Certificate in Horse Management

Preliminary Teaching Test


Progression

Once a student has achieved one stage or level they can progress to the next. After Stage or Level 3, students can apply for entry to Higher Educational vocational or academic course such as HNC, HND or Degree.

Entry requirements

Accredited Prior Learning is taken into account. Students will be advised as to which course and level they enroll onto. (Currently NVQ Level 2 roughly equates to Pony club C+ to B test and NVQ Level 3 roughly equates to Pony Club H and A Care standard and BHS stage 3).
